Board-certified orthopedic surgeon Douglas Haltom, Jr., MD, specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopy, joint replacement, and joint reconstruction. He sees patients at the Jackson-Stonebridge and Dyersburg, Tennessee, locations of West Tennessee Bone & Joint Institute.

Dr. Haltom earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, Tennessee. He completed his residency training at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. Following his residency, Dr. Haltom participated in a sports medicine fellowship at Indiana University/Methodist Sports Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was also a J. Vernon Luck orthopedic research fellow at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri.

Dr. Haltom is a member of several professional associations, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Tennessee Medical Association, the Southern Medical Association, the Tennessee Orthopedic Society, the West Tennessee Consolidated Medical Assembly, and the West Tennessee Physicians’ Alliance. Dr. Haltom is using the Robotics-Assisted Surgical System from Smith+Nephew, which provides greater accuracy during knee replacement surgery, as well as less pain and improved recovery.
