Arthroscopic Procedures
Arthroscopic surgery is a minimally invasive orthopedic procedure that is used to diagnose and treat several joint problems, including knee, hip, elbow, wrist, ankle and shoulder conditions. From torn cartilage, ACL or patellar problems in the knee to bursitis, rotator cuff tears and frozen shoulders, our surgeons use the latest arthroscopic procedures to effectively treat patients.
Unlike regular surgery, where a large incision is made to perform the surgery, arthroscopy involves making tiny incisions to perform the procedure. An athroscope with a light and camera at the end is inserted through one of the incisions to allow the orthopedic surgeon to see inside the joint when the image is displayed on a monitor. The actual surgery or procedure is done through another small incision.
Our physicians do many of their arthroscopic procedures at the Physicians Surgery Center, an outpatient facility about three blocks from our clinic. Patients go home the same day as the procedure.
Because it is minimally invasive, arthroscopy generally is less painful and allows the patient to recover and return to daily activities faster.
